Transportation

• In accordance with New York State law, Williamsville establishes bus routes and pick-up points based on the distance limitations set by District policy
• Most bus stops are established at street corners and fire hydrants. Consistency and fairness are key standards in implementing this policy
• Bus routes are revised every year based on changes in student attendance patterns.
• The level of service in any given neighborhood may change from one year to the next as students who were eligible for a bus stop move on to higher grades or relocate
• Student pick-up must comply with Board of Education Policy

• Students in grades K-4 may be expected to walk up to one-tenth of a mile to an established bus stop
• Students in grades 5-12 may be expected to walk up to two-tenths of a mile to an established bus stop
  • All measurements are completed with a District measurement device

• Non-through streets and cul-de-sacs can present a challenge for school buses. There must be enough space on a court for the bus to turn around, without backing up. In keeping with School District policy and procedures:
• If a student lives on a non-through street or court that is less than one-tenth of a mile long, or lives less than one-tenth of a mile from the entrance to the court (grades K-4), or two-tenths of a mile for students in grades 5-12, the bus stop will be located at the entrance to the court. Students will be expected to walk to the intersection at the through street.
• Distance measurements in courts:

1. Are made from the extended curb line of the through street to the nearest edge of the driveway of the house where the student lives. The location of the bus stop is not a factor in this measurement.
2. Are measured along the most direct path on the roadway.
3. May include a measurement traveling in the opposite direction around the circle at the end of the court.

My Stop is a web-based application available to all Williamsville Central School District parents to access live bus GPS information using a smartphone, tablet or computer and securely view the current location of their child’s bus on routes. The system also provides the school bus’s estimated time of arrival at your child’s bus stop.

• To instruct their children so that they thoroughly understand their travel pattern and the NAME of the place to which they are being transported.
• To provide their children with some form of IDENTIFICATION which is to be carried at all times, giving NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, PARENT’S NAME, EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBER, AND NAME OF CHILD CARE PROVIDER.
• That, if school is closed during the day due to some emergency, their children will be transported in accordance with the arrangement which would be normal for that day.
• To re-file this form by JULY 15th for the upcoming school year.
• To re-file this form for canceling arrangements

The following musical instruments ARE permitted on a school bus on a regular run to or from school:

• Trumpet
• Clarinet
• Flute
• Alto Saxophone
• Saxophone
• Tenor Saxophone
• Oboe
• Bassoon
• Violin
• Viola
• Trombone
• French Horn

These items must be carried on the student's lap and must not interfere with any other student's ability to enter or exit the bus.

The following musical instruments are NOT permitted on a school bus:

• Baritone Saxophone
• Baritone Horn
• Guitar
• Tuba
• Cello
• String Bass

The following Sports Equipment is allowed on the bus only when in appropriate cases/bags: baseball and softball bats, field hockey sticks, lacrosse sticks and tennis rackets.

Sports Equipment NOT allowed on a school bus include hockey bags, skateboards, hockey sticks, roller blades.
